Q: What does normal study week look like?A: In full time language study you will spend approximately 10 hours per week in class. Aside from that you are expected to do 2 hours of study for every hour of class totaling 30-40 hours a week, like a full time job. The time you put into your study will reflect your goals for learning Japanese.
Q: Where will the classes be held?A: As an independent teacher Natsukosan doesn't use a classroom, rather classes will be in your home. If it is more convenient, a local Ministry house, the "Joyhouse" is also available for such use.
Q: How much do classes cost?A:Individual classes are ¥5000 per two hour class. (equivalent to approximately $42 or €32.) Classes with two students or more will be discounted per student.
Q: What is the method of payment?A:Cash payment, weekly or monthly is preferred.
Q: Where can I live while I am in language study?A:You are responsible for locating your own housing, but there are several people and resources available to assist you in finding housing whether for singles, couples or families. This is a resource separate from Natsukosensei. Contact us for details.
Q: What are the advantages of studying with Natsuko as opposed to a large language school?A:Natsukosensei is able to work one on one (see Previous Students) and is adaptable to your learning style and preferences. You and Natsukosensei will decide your schedule and your learning curriculum together. She offers hands-on approaches to classroom settings, for example she will accompany you to the post office to buy stamps which applies the vocabulary you have previously learned.
Q: If I am a true beginner in Japanese where do you recommend I start?A:If you want to start your study before your classes with Natsukosensei, learnining the two alphabets, Hiragana and Katakana, is helpful. This will eliminate the necessity to learn Japanese using the English alphabet, allowing you to learn it fully in Japanese. Q: What text books do you typically use?A:Two of the texts most often used are Japanese for Busy People and Mina no Nihongo, however Natsukosensei is not set on a specific text and is willing to adapt to what you are accustomed to.
Q: How do I make arrangements to study with Natsukosensei?A:If you think that you are interested contact me by e-mail as soon as possible and let me know what kind of study program you are interested in. (survival, refresher course, full term course, etc.) Teaching missionaries is my full time job and I can help students on a variety of levels. I will have you fill out a questionnaire to clarify your study goals and we can begin to discuss a plan for your language study and the the nessesary arrangements. |
